Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Zenta Labs ("we", "us") and govern your use of the MacroSnap mobile app, related services and this website (together, "MacroSnap"). By using MacroSnap you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. If you do not agree, do not use MacroSnap.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use MacroSnap. By using it, you confirm that you meet these requirements and that you are not barred from using the app under the laws that apply to you.

3. Health disclaimer

• Calorie and macro targets are calculated with standard formulas from the information you enter. They are general guidance, not a personalized medical or dietary plan.
• Talk to a doctor or registered dietitian before changing your diet, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have or have had an eating disorder, have diabetes or another medical condition, or take medication.
• Do not use MacroSnap to manage a medical condition, and never ignore or delay professional advice because of something in the app. If you think you have a medical emergency, contact emergency services.
• If calorie tracking makes you feel anxious or leads to unhealthy habits, stop using the app and seek support from a health professional.
• Weight and activity data synced from Apple Health or Health Connect comes from those services and your devices; we don't guarantee its accuracy.

4. AI estimates

MacroSnap uses artificial intelligence, provided by third parties (currently Google's Gemini models on Google Cloud Vertex AI), to identify foods in photos, estimate portions, match food searches and generate suggestions and insights. These outputs are approximate and can be wrong or incomplete — for example, when ingredients are hidden, portions are hard to judge, or lighting is poor. Barcode product information comes from third-party sources and may also be inaccurate.

• You are responsible for reviewing and correcting results before relying on them.
• Suggestions do not account for allergies, intolerances, medical diets or dietary restrictions unless you check them yourself. Always check ingredients if you have an allergy.
• AI output is not professional advice. If you see output that is harmful or inappropriate, please tell us.

5. Your account

• You can start as a guest to log food manually. A guest account is tied to your installation of the app; if you remove the app or change devices without saving your account, you may lose access to your data.
• AI features (AI photo scans, AI Coach, weekly insights) and Premium purchases require a saved account: email and password, Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple. Keep your credentials secure and tell us about any unauthorized use.
• You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping the information you enter accurate. One account is for one person.
• You can delete your account at any time in Profile → Privacy & Data, as described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Free plan and Premium

Free plan

• Barcode scanning, food search, manual logging, goals, progress and Apple Health / Health Connect are free.
• With a saved account, the free plan includes 3 AI photo scans in total (not per day). Scans that fail don't count.
• AI Coach (meal suggestions and daily check-ins) and weekly insights are available only with Premium.
• We may run promotions or free trials that open Premium features to some or all users for a limited time. We show any limits and prices in the app before they apply to you, and we may change free features and limits over time.

Fair use

To keep the service reliable and affordable, AI features have a daily fair-use limit for every account, including Premium (currently 40 AI photo analyses per day). "Unlimited" in the app means you are not limited by the free-plan quota; it does not remove this fair-use limit.

Premium plans

• Plans: Premium is offered as an annual or monthly auto-renewing subscription, and as a lifetime one-time purchase. Plans, prices and any free trial are shown in the app before you buy.
• Billing: purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment is charged to your store account when you confirm the purchase. Premium is linked to the MacroSnap account you were signed in to when you bought it.
• Lifetime: a one-time payment that unlocks Premium for as long as MacroSnap offers Premium features. It does not renew. It remains subject to the fair-use limit above.
• Renewal (subscriptions): your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period (for example, monthly or yearly) at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your store account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
• Free trials and introductory offers: if a free trial or introductory price is offered, the terms are shown before you subscribe. A trial converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Any unused part of a trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
• Managing and cancelling: manage or cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Premium until the end of the paid period. Deleting the app or your MacroSnap account does not cancel a subscription. When you delete your account, your purchase is released so you can restore it on a new MacroSnap account.
• Refunds: refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. We cannot issue refunds for store purchases directly. Nothing in these Terms limits any statutory right of withdrawal or refund you have under the consumer laws of your country; requests for store purchases are handled through Apple or Google.
• Prices: prices are shown in the app before purchase, may vary by country and may include taxes. If a price changes, the store will notify you and, where required, ask for your consent.
• Restoring: use Restore Purchases in the app, signed in to your MacroSnap account, to reactivate an active subscription or lifetime purchase on a new device signed in to the same store account. A purchase can be linked to only one MacroSnap account at a time.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use MacroSnap in violation of any law or to harm others;
• upload content you don't have the right to use, or content that is illegal, sexually explicit, violent or unrelated to food and nutrition tracking;
• upload photos of other people, or their personal information, without their permission;
• attempt to access other users' data, bypass plan limits or security measures (including app integrity checks), or interfere with the service;
• scrape, copy, reverse engineer or resell MacroSnap or its AI outputs, or use them to build a competing product, except as allowed by law;
• try to make the AI features produce harmful content, or use MacroSnap to promote unsafe eating or weight-loss practices;
• use automated means to create accounts or send excessive requests.

8. Your content

You keep ownership of the photos, logs and other content you add to MacroSnap ("Your Content"). You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, process, reproduce and display Your Content only as needed to operate, provide and improve MacroSnap for you — including sending meal photos and related information to our AI provider for analysis. This license ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except for residual copies in backups that expire in the normal course. We do not use your photos to train our own AI models.

You confirm that you have the rights needed to upload Your Content. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve MacroSnap without any obligation to you.

9. Our intellectual property

MacroSnap, its software, design, food database, text and logos are owned by Zenta Labs or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. We give you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the app for your own non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms and the terms of the app store you downloaded it from. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

10. Third-party services and app stores

MacroSnap relies on third-party services, including Apple (Sign in with Apple), Google (Firebase, Google Sign-In and Vertex AI), Apple Health, Health Connect, Open Food Facts and, for purchases, the Apple App Store and Google Play. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for their availability or content. Packaged-food information found by barcode comes from Open Food Facts, a collaborative database made available under the Open Database License, and may be incomplete or inaccurate.

Apple App Store. If you downloaded MacroSnap from the Apple App Store:

• These Terms are between you and Zenta Labs only, not Apple, and Zenta Labs — not Apple — is responsible for the app and its content.
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
• If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the app; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app.
• Zenta Labs, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection or privacy claims, and claims that the app infringes a third party's intellectual property rights.
• You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

Google Play. If you downloaded MacroSnap from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply, and Google is not responsible for the app.

11. Suspension and termination

You can stop using MacroSnap and delete your account at any time from Profile → Privacy & Data. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect MacroSnap or other users. We may also change or discontinue MacroSnap or any feature. Where reasonable, we will give notice and a chance to export or delete your data. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MacroSnap is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement. We do not warrant that nutrition estimates, targets, barcode information or AI outputs will be accurate or complete, or that the service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Zenta Labs will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, or for health outcomes arising from decisions you make based on MacroSnap. Our total liability for any claim relating to MacroSnap is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Premium in the 12 months before the claim or USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.

14. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify Zenta Labs against claims and costs arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of MacroSnap.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example when we change features, start offering paid plans, or when the law changes. We will post the new version here with a new "last updated" date and notify you in the app before material changes take effect. If you keep using MacroSnap after changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms; if you don't agree, stop using MacroSnap and delete your account.

16. Governing law and disputes

If you have a concern about MacroSnap, please contact us first at contact.zentalabs@gmail.com so we can try to resolve it informally.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the competent courts of Hanoi, Vietnam have jurisdiction over any dispute. This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and, if you are a consumer, you may bring proceedings in the courts where you live where the law allows.

17. General

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about MacroSnap. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. These Terms are written in English; if we provide a translation, the English version applies to the extent permitted by law.
